Mundo Dance classes are for anyone and everyone who wants to dance. Our youngest class members are seven and the oldest recently turned 80.

A Mundo Dance class is a great social experience where people make new friends and gain a whole new social life! Our Instructors are qualified, friendly and most importantly, passionate.

Classes are suitable for complete beginners to those with previous dance experience. It doesn’t matter if you have never danced before. This is your chance to learn – and it’s never too late.

There’s always lots going on with Mundo and the Cardiff dance scene. We have regular local and global news articles coming in all the time so stay up-to-date by following our news feed.

The Founder,
Yonier Garcia

In Colombia, children learn to dance at an early age and, on Sundays, whole streets close so that people can get together to dance! My mother was a dance teacher and I started dancing almost as soon as I could walk.

Why We Love Mundo!

Here’s a taster of what can be expected from a Mundo Dance Class. It’s all inclusive, high octane and passionate, but above all it’s fun.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the age group for a Mundo Dance class?

Our adult classes are for everyone from 16 upwards. People of all ages enjoy Mundo Dance – we have dancers in their 80s who love every minute of their classes!

Which class is most suitable for beginners?

Nearly all our classes are suited to all ages and abilities. The only exceptions are the Mundo Dance Heels/Choreography classes at JustOne Studios on Monday and Wednesday evenings at 8.30 pm. These two classes are more advanced and some dance experience is preferable.

Will Mundo Dance help with fitness/weight loss?

It certainly will! It is a high-energy fitness workout that typically burns between 300 to 500 calories. But there are many more health benefits to consider. Dance helps to improve strength, stamina and co-ordination. Learning choreography also has significant cognitive benefits in terms of memorising steps and sequences. There is a great deal of research to support the view that dancing has all-round health benefits.

I won’t know anyone!

You soon will! Mundo Dance classes are a great social experience where people make new friends. Our classes are an opportunity to learn to dance without needing a partner. You will find yourself part of a very sociable group of happy dance enthusiasts!

I haven’t exercised for a long time. Will it be too energetic for me?

Always check with your doctor before starting any new exercise –especially if you are recovering from illness or injury. You should also mention any injuries to the instructor before class so they advise on what you should and shouldn’t do. Instructors will often provide alternatives to high impact moves but the important thing in all our classes is to work at your own pace.

I have two left feet/I have never danced before.

Mundo Dance classes are suitable for complete beginners and we have yet to meet anyone with two left feet! It is normal to find the first few classes a bit challenging but after a few lessons it will start to click into place. Remember – nobody is judging you. They’re too busy concentrating on their own dancing!

Do I need special dance clothing for classes?

No. You just need comfortable trainers and workout clothing such as leggings and a t-shirt. A good sports bra is also advised. The classes are usually very hot and sweaty so always bring a bottle of water and a towel.
